I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it's nice that journos will be able to do their jobs without getting handcuffed. On the other, I think a policy which separates journos from non-journos is problematic. How does the cop determine who is and is not a journalist? The size of the camera?
I think a better policy would be "Unless they wish to be fired immediately, Chicago police officers will not arrest people who are not breaking any laws." |
