Quicktime files (.MOV) to CS4

Just installed Adobe CS4 (version 4.1).
Video is recorded as .MOV (Quicktime) on SDHC cards.

When trying to transfer video file to CS4 I get 'Codec missing or unavailable' error message. And yes, I have installed Quicktime onto my machine.

Anyone else run into this?

I've went to Adobe, Creative COW and Google for help--the first two no luck and the last gives me so many codec downloads I don't even know where to start.

Thank you in advance. :)

As it has been said before, mov's is a wrapper. PP handles "regular" mov's. Check to see what is the codec. Which camera are you using? It could be a H264 version. You might have to download the codec from the camera maker.

Mac or PC? Did the file play in QT? Does Media Encoder read the file?

Premiere has always been able to import mov's as long as it had the codec.

My crash course in codecs has taught me a lot. :)

I found what I need, but I'll put the info here in case someone else runs into the same problem.

I shoot on a JVC-700. It records in a XDCAM EX codec.
I edit on Adobe Premiere Pro. It does not like the XDCAM EX codec.

(I even asked JVC before the purchase if it would work with Premiere Pro. They said yes.)

Calibrated Software's product is the one that I've found that will make my JVC and Premiere Pro play nice together.

What version of PP are you using? CS4 has EX settings. And I thought there was an update for CS3? Maybe it was for XDCam?
