After decades of hearing the emergency alert system messages on tv and the radio, can someone, such as some of you head-end or broadcast engineers from the tv and/or radio worlds, please explain why the recording quality of the messages has never improved? The worst ones are the synthetic voices that can't pronounce words properly and leave out spaces creating a long run-on sentence. Then there's been a few actually using a person with a strong foreign accent.
It has always sounded like the audio was recorded on VHS (SLP speed) in a bare-walled room and voiced by someone taken off the street with no experience in communications. For something so important, why is the production quality so low, how are these things produced and who does it? Thanks.
