20th Century Technology Help

Yes, I'm still working in the 20th Century, editing tape to tape DVCam. But I'm wondering if there is a firewire connection that I can take out of a Dell Laptop and either plug into my DVCam deck or camera. There are times we get surveillance video that will only play on the laptop and I hate having to shoot the screen.

Thanks

You don't say what format is the surveillance video is? The file may play in MovieMaker(included with Windows). Connect your deck via firewire to the laptop. If the file will play, it should see played via the deck on a monitor. I have read about free shareware that allows playback via the firewire to a deck. Also, a low cost editing software have support for the firewire. As long as the file can be played, you should see playback and be able to record it...
