I had a shoot a few weeks ago with the RED camera and the client wanted it in 48fps to future proof it.
Made very little difference to me but looked quite good played back on the monitor.

Now there is all this fuss over Peter Jackson shooting the Hobbit 48fps and I was trying to describe to people the difference in look.
Of course "show" is better than "tell" so I wondered if there is a way to post it on line and let some view it at 48fps?

I've heard Posterous will do it without changing the original frame rate but has anyone tried it?

Hey guys!

I just thought this would be a good opportunity to ask for advice when it comes to live TV.

I'm about to approach my sixth year in the business, yet I'm getting my first real taste of doing live shots. Though I've come a long way since my first week, I'm still trying to iron out the kinks (On both: setting up, and doing quality work).

For me, it's just been a culture shock. I went from a solid run as evening photojournalist to feeling like a rookie once again.

Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated!

Out of nowhere, my assignment editor sent me on a story knowing it would be fun... and that I'd like it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC1zR...2&feature=plcp
My first crack at a GoPro... This one was chock full of moments.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tbDx...1&feature=plcp

This one actually had more substance. I had to rely on edits to keep it flowing. It took longer to edit than I had hoped for.

Thanks!

Peacocks in this once quiet neighborhood, have become a problem. We covered the story for several days with residents complaining to the city to get rid of these beautiful but loud and destructive birds. The day I shot this, my reporter was on vacation. I didn't find out until after I shot the story, that it was to be a nat pkg.

Last night I missed a step at the house...foot rolled inward. (Miraculously not dropping my MacBook Pro and a bag) So I have a grade 1 sprained ankle. It's certainly not comfortable, though I am less than 24 hours out. I'm off today but start my week tomorrow. Any experience on how long I should be on light duty? They say that during the first 48 it is best to stay off of it, so I'm thinking tomorrow may be in the can. I've considered using the tripod as a makeshift crutch but that might look goofy... ;-)

Today i had such an unexpectedly wonderful experience with the people at Lowel lighting I had to share it with you guys.

Honestly, I've never been a huge fan of Lowel's tungsten products but I fell in love with the caselites from the first time I used one. I own three of them now and they've been the backbone of my interview lighting for the last few years. If you aren't familiar with them, check them out sometime. A completely self contained large source florescent light that packs down into a small lightweight box (including the stand) that you can throw over your shoulder and run with. Much more compact and easier to travel than Kino Divas.

Anyway, I sent one of my two bulb fixtures in for service because of some damage resulting from obvious operator error. On a recent overseas shoot I plugged the light into 220v power while still in 110v mode. That lapse in memory resulted in a frightening boom, blown fuse, considerable smoke and the frying of the guts of the light. I wrote a note admitting my guilt and included it with the light and shipped this "way out of warranty" fixture to Lowel service in Happauge, NY.

I've been a little busy the past few weeks and hadn't thought much about it till the UPS man showed up with a box today. To my amazement, inside was a brand new Caselite 2!!! No calls from customer service asking about the circumstances of the damage. No request for a credit card to cover the repair parts, labor or even the shipping costs. Just a brand new replacement light.

It warms my soul to know that there are still some vendors in an industry in which NO piece of equipment is inexpensive who understand the meaning of the words CUSTOMER SERVICE and how to thereby build brand loyalty.

I wonder if this had been a Sony or Panasonic product if the same thing would have happened? Hmmmmm.

I encourage anyone who's looking for lights to check out Lowel and help support a manufacturer that's willing to support us.

I have a shotgun mic and the tip of the windscreen has come off. I think velcro on my camera case must have caused it to tear little by little, so eventually the end was just dangling. I finally just pulled the tip off completely because it was distracting and wasn't doing any good as a windscreen.

Rather than buy a new windscreen, which is about $70, I want to just glue the tip back on.

I know that certain kinds of glue will not work on acoustic foam because it dissolves the foam. Does anyone know what kind of glue WILL hold this on, without interfering with the sound?
