The title alone shows bias.
It's not Bush's war. It's Americas war against extreme Muslim terrorists.
Remember too that many Dems also voted for this war.
I just wish we would cut out all the political correctness crap and go in and finish it!
Unfortunately Bush has made many of the same "Nam" type mistakes...

How? Finish it how? That country is destined to become a black hole as it slowly collapses inward. There is no "finishing" it. If we stay, they hate us. If we get out, they hate us. Once we stop PAYING the opposition to stop terrorizing, things will only get worse again.

Now that I can agree with. Maybe if Bush Sr. hadn't helped get Dubbya out of serving in Nam, he would have handled the Iraq situation better.

False? Incorrect intel from all over the world. Even Pres. Bill Clinton was saying the same things before he even left the office.
Everyone knows that Hussein (Sadam not Obama) had weapons of mass destruction. They just don't know what happened to them. Who knew that he used them all on his own people?
As far as finishing the war, you are right. I don't believe that
we will ever be without radical terrorists, but I hope that we keep fighting them over there rather than here in our own country.
Final point and i'll give you the last word,
Remember that we have been attacked numerous times.
The USS Cole, US Emabassys, World trade Ctr in 93, (those were before Bush BTW) and 9-11 just to name a few. What are we supposed to do just sit back and sing Koomb'yaa with Obama?
I love this country but I love my family even more and I say we do whatever it takes to protect ourselves from those who want us dead. Do you really believe that if we leave them alone that they will leave us alone. I WISH that were true.
Ok, to make this a relevant "TV" post and not a political diatribe (too late for that, I know)

No, actually I wouldn't. All those outlets you listed DO have a bias - a deliberate slant, meant to serve a market niche, a group of consumers who prefer not to accept the other slant commonly found in major media.
But I digress.....
We're not discussing SINclair or Rush or WBAL or The Times at the moment Warren. We're discussing PBS's..... well B.S.!
You can rant about Fox News or something else in a thread YOU can start. But for now, you're disrupting class, young man.

That's true. We're fighting a terrorist insurgency - not the armed forces of a sovreign nation. Therefore, not a "war"..... But I don't the guys and gals doing the fighting for us and getting wounded or KIA'd are in any less pain or any less dead since it's not a true "war".

If you actually watched this piece on Frontline and found it flawed then that's one thing. If you are just ASSuming it was wrong then who's really biased? I watched it
and would really love to hear some direct rebuttal based on cold, hard evidence that
would refute the timeline and events that were laid out in this piece. As much as I'm sure
the neocons would love to re-write history, it's tough to do when the FACTS keep getting in the way!

I saw pieces of the Frontline episodes last night. At the end of the first part I was depressed that we got suckered into a war in Iraq (all the "proof" of WMDs came from a single unreliable source whom the CIA never even interrogated- they don't even know his real name because they got the info via German intelligence.)
At the end of the second part I was depressed at the prospect of a hasty retreat from Iraq will most likely result in the collapse of any democracy there and the rise of a militant, hardline Islamic theocracy. In other words, watching PBS made me want to vote for McCain more than Obama. Weird. But a good series even if it was just a bunch of rotating b+w photos; I hope to see the rest of it.

Two wrongs make a right? No, they're both wrong. I dare to say PBS is more wrong, because they are doing it with public money.

Just a small percentage is public money. About 10 to 20 percent is from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The rest is from donations from individuals and Foundations. It's their money, and they can do as they please.
100% of the "War" is public money. Most of it goes to FOB.

Hasty retreat? We've been there 5 years and counting. As far as planting a democracy there, I find it so arrogant or naive, (take your pick) that we think
it's in THEIR best interests to have a democratic state. Did anyone stop and ask them what they want? Maybe a theocracy or a dictatorship works best for them.
You have THREE factions that hate one another there battling for power. Does anyone really think that the losing two factions are going to sit still and support
the government because they got a simple majority? They don't play that way
and that is what we are seeing today. The only thing that is keeping them from
having a total open civil war on each other is the fact that they have us there as easy targets. The irony of the whole thing is that we removed the only thing that kept the country together, Saddam. We left a power vaccum without any well thought out solution as to how to fill it. I guess it was felt that if we built a few McDonalds and
Pizza Huts on some major Baghdad corners, democracy would just take over. The only REAL solution should be to portion Iraq into 3 separate
states. We unfortunately won't figure this out for many more years, many billions
of dollars, and worst of all, many more soldier's lives. In the end, it's THEIR country,
not ours. We have enough problems here at home that need fixing.
Well said! How about if I get back the portion of the "public money" I paid through my taxes to fund this war which I did not approve of?
Warren
I think that would be around $121,000, though by the time we wise up and get out, it should be around 200k per person.
Yeah fighting those freedom-fighter/terrorists in Iraq is totally worth the 600 billion wasted dollars.
And yeah I have not forgot 911, but really, do you people still use that to justify killing 100,000 people that did not attack us.
And good ole McCain wants to keep us there 100yrs?

I don't think that means the fighting will continue for 100 years. I think it meant that we would have a presence there for possibly that long. Like we're still in Japan, Germany, Korea and a bunch of other places where conflict stopped 60 or 70 years ago. I think that was the context of the statment.
Personally, I find it absurd that we could predict anything 100 years in the future the way things are going now.
I fully expect that the U.S. will become a lot less "United" in the next 50-100 years, and will most likely end up becoming a loosely affiliated group of "regional" territories divided along cultural or ethnic lines. Sort of like the former Yugoslavia.
I just made my own absurd prediction, I guess.
We'll see.......

The average viewer doesn't differentiate between Bill O and Wolf Blitzer. If they did, you wouldn't hear things like, "I get my news from Hannity because he tells the truth." The tout that CNN and others are leftist is just foolish. If they were, why did they trumpet this war prior to the invasion?
Clinton did think Iraq had WMD's, but he also bombed the hell out of them in the late 90's.
I think we're learning that this "war" isn't going to be won by bombs. You kill a terrorist, you create five. Kill those five and you create 20. No, we must fight this "war" the same way we fought the Cold War. It's a war of ideas. Shoot a boy's father, the boy tries to shoot you. Give the father a job, and the boy gets fed. It's the doctrine of dignity, it's working right now in Iraq and a top Obama advisor is one of the authors.

Lake4 is a nom de plume the weak minded on this board sometimes bestow upon independant thinkers who challenge their tired, silly, liberal Dogma.
It's sort of like when the wife in a divorcing couple suddenly accuses the husband of child abuse during the custody hearing phase.... Or calling someone a racist. In their minds, it's the ultimate insult.
Lake is/was a real guy, and as you could guess, irritated the piss out of the softminded ones here. He was accused of something or other, and ended up being banned, I think.

There are illegal mexicans and more illegal mexicans.
They are raping / killing Americans and the city will not turn them over to the feds for deportation. Houston has never been a great place to live but now that it is a sanctuary city, it's an easy place to be run over by an illegal drunk. While the perp is released back into the community.

Now, I've heard Alan Keyes before, but never like this! What does our invasion of Iraq have to do with protecting our freedom???
I was totally unaware of the Iraqi armada that was poised to attack
