Is there a new walk, talk, hold a prop standup edict at CNN? I've just seen 3 in the last couple of hours.

My last station did something like this... It was a mandate to have "aggressive, compelling live shots"... whatever that's supposed to mean... but what it ended up doing was a bunch of those walk, talk and hold a prop intros and tags... Oh, and we weren't allowed to use sticks for ANY live shot... including the obligatory standup in front of Police HQ where NOTHING IS HAPPENING! (*shakes head*)

Sounds like the insultants were in town to bring in their ever so "fresh" ideas......

Pretty much... and amazingly few of their ideas worked under that regime during that time... that ND was let go a few months after I left, but yet the no sticks rule for live shots remains...
