We are seriously looking at the HPX-3000. I had the opportunity
to look at its studio brother, the 3500 a couple of weeks back and was impressed with the images. In looking at the specs on the field version
3000, it looks to be a power hungry beast. Is anyone out there currently using one, and if so can you lay out some pros and cons?

If it is anything like it's sibling HPX2000p it is indeed power hungry. We've found them to be really heavy. I'm talking about being prohibitively heavy when you have an HD lens and Hytron 140 mounted.

YMMV.

I have not used one personally, but I asked my sales rep about the AVC-Intra codec and she said some DP's had done some tests with it and the the HD images were nothing short of amazing. Better than DVCPro HD and approaching D-5.
