Does your station provide a Christmas bonus?

I'm just trying to figure out how common this is in this business. My vote is *NO*

yes, if you consider a plastic station logo christmas ornament and a $40 grocery gift card a bonus!

$50 Macys gift card. Its the least they can do, especially after we help them make a gazillion dollars last year.

$200 after taxes if you've been there over a year, $50 dollars under a year

At my very first TV job at a tiny production company in rural NC we got a Bonus based on our time there. I think it was a 1 weeks pay per year.

Adding to that I thinks it's a great way to boost moral among the employees and if the bean counters would use a little creativity it could be done at any company. Just budgeting for the bonus by holding back the percentage of what you could actually pay any given employee. For example, if you'd hire a given position fors 30k just pay that position 28.9k instead and fork over the other $1100 just before christmas. That would more than make up for the slight pay reduction and when the word gets out that your company pays bonuses you'd get great employees who'd have high moral.

My yearly evaluation is in December, does that count? We got a ham and a mall gift card this year.

I'm freelance now so, no, I don't pay myself a 'Bonus' per se (but I usually buy myself a nice present around that time and find some way to write it off.

but

When I was staff at a station they gave us turkeys (they were small ones though, about the size of large chickens) & then gave us the option of declining the gift and they would send it to a homeless shelter on our behalf. Most took that route although I saw a couple of guys walking out the door with 3 or 4 turkeys at the end of the day...
