Too bad you didn't do this a couple years ago...I could have funded this entire site several times over. I've obviously ordered a lot from them and even visited the store. No BS, great prices, and a huge variety.

Is it a holiday special only?

B&H does have some holiday specials, but their partnership with b-roll.net will last well after the holidays.

If you're planning on making a purchase with B&H Photo Video (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/category/3755/Video_Professional.html?BI=1699&KW=&KBID=2271) please go to their site via links on b-roll.net.

We do not get credit if you go directly to B&H... you have to use the links (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/category/3755/Video_Professional.html?BI=1699&KW=&KBID=2271) on our site.

Thanks,

Damn, bad timing, in the last two weeks I spent almost 5k in a new Canon SLR body and two new lenses, credit could have gone to B-roll. I'm glad to see B&H here.

A few presonal words about B&H. For those like me who has been around for long time, long before the internet or overnight deliveries, B&H is a blessing. I’ve been using B&H since the first day they started and over the last 30+years I probably spent enough that their second floor should be dedicated to me. Over the years I tried dozens of mail order suppliers but none even come close to the service that I’ve been getting from them.

Over the years I followed their growth. When they started there was no video, B&H was just another of the hundreds of mail order houses selling still photo equipment that advertised in the back of magazines like Popular Photography. With the introduction of new technology they were the first to take the risk and move in at full speed, way ahead of their competition; their commitment to always have the very latest also helped us to stay ahead of our competition. Back then, before the internet, the best way to learn what was new in this business was to walk into their showroom. Over the years they have grown to be one of the largest supplier in the world, if not the largest and I’m amazed how they can still provide this kind of fast and accurate service. B&H web site is the most informative of any suppliers that I’ve seen; they tell you if the item is in stock and if it isn’t they’ll notify you when it is in stock. They also give you complete information about that particular item. If you place the order before 3pm is guarantee to be at your door by noon the following day. My only complain is that they no longer have the direct links section to the various manufacturers that they represent, which was useful to learn more about a particular product.

I remember almost 20 years ago, the day before leaving for a shoot in Venezuela my Arri 1k fresnel took a dive from 12 foot stand. Sunday morning on the way to the airport I left early and I was the first one in B&H, I knew that if anyone would have one in stock would be them. I bought it, packed it my travel case right in their parking lot and continued to JFK.

If you have a chance order their 2007/08 winter catalogs, I just got mine and it’s a must-read in this business.

Like all New Yorkers that work in the business, I LOVE B&H.
Except for Fridays after 3pm, all day Saturday, and parts of April and October.
They're great people, the mail order service is the best, and the prices really can't be beat.
Here's a must-see that's slightly related, and is funny as all getout.

B&H is great if you know what you need. Most of the time, what I need is in stock and even with shipping, they still beat my local Barbizon's prices. I called them out(Barbizon) on an item the other day(SM Daylight Chimera for my HMI), B&H was $100 dollars cheaper. The closest Barbizon could get was $35 more than B&H(My Barbizon sales rep said the B&H's price was Barbizon's cost on the item). I also need a new Hytron 50 for my audio bag and B&H is $40 dollars cheaper. I've been told that they sale a lot of items at or below cost because they make it up on quantity on other items(and B&H is not their only business).

In the last two weeks, I've spent probably $3500 with them. Wish the link would have been up two weeks ago when I had to order a 2nd battery charger to travel with.

Like all New Yorkers that work in the business, I LOVE B&H.
Except for Fridays after 3pm, all day Saturday, and parts of April and October.

First time I ever went into B&H, I was a little put off by them. There I was, a southern boy in New York, getting my first taste of dealing with New York Orthodox Jews. I wasn't accustomed to that brusque, no-nonsense sales style. And it wasn't just a New York style; there's a particular way these Jewish businesses deal with their customers that is unique. At first, I thought it was rude. "Service with a smile" it isn't.

But after I understood it, and encountered it both at B&H and also over at J&R Music/Computer World, I came to appreciate that it IS good service after all. No fluff. The price may not be the best every single time, but I know it will be the best MOST of the time. I know I'm getting quality product without paying for the fluffery at most other businesses, and that they'll make it right if they sell me something defective. I don't mind their blunt style of dealing with people when I know that they're working from a philosophy of making a fair deal for both them and their customer. That's not what people usually think about when they think of great customer service, but it really is the most important thing.

I wish more businesses would/could operate that way. But people who don't understand what they're experiencing or who might let Jewish stereotypes shape their ideas of the salesman's intentions may not ever understand it to the point of being comfortable with it.

The best thing about B+H besides price IS their salespeople.
They KNOW their material, as opposed to some people who just sell the stuff but can't really tell you anything about the stuff they sell. Compare B+H folks to some dimbulb from Best Buy. I've bought all my HD gear from B+H and am extremely satisfied. They talk to their customers who of course range the gamut from grizzled "60 Minutes" photographers to tourists with handicams. And it's an international destination - one of the biggest sellers of in-stock PAL equipment in case you've got to go somewhere where PAL 50 Hz is the only stuff you can use.
