Has anybody used the Tricaster for editing? Is it any good at compositing? My school's athletic department wants to buy one...but I want to convince them to buy the Adobe production bundle instead for After Effects and Photoshop.

The strengths of the Tricaster is multi-camera and live-to-tape productions. One small box to do the show. The Tricaster is aimed at multi-cameras production that are done live, streamed, or taped.....I believe it will some editing, but I think they mean the Video Toaster. Software that goes in a PC. Switcher, Editor, Paint Box, CG, DVR's, and Lightwave...
If all they want to do is edit....Your suggestion is fine...If they want to do a live-to-tape show, Video Toaster

I had no idea Newtek was still around. I remember the first Video Toaster and Lightwave from back in the early 90's.

Yeah. I've seen their Tricaster in action for a web streaming for a football game...its actually pretty nice for a low budget production.
I use Lightwave for 3d stuff too...its a great program.
