Was going over some old browser bookmarks and stumbled on this one.

http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/tech/l_plant/f_index.html

It has a 'virtual tour' of the lens manufacturing process, and a lens gallery with some additional informative short movies detailing different types of lens elements.

It definitely helps the end user to understand why good lenses are very expensive.

Enjoy!

Very cool, I never knew how much work went into the lens-making process. Of course, that was a $5000 lens they were making. And, how many times can one person say "EF 500mm f/4L IS USM Lens?" One would think they'd eventually just say 500mm lens.

That was pretty cool.....I love learning the science or the ideas behind the equipment I/we use.....fascinating.

Sadly, it appears to be a by-product of a VO talent that has no clue what they're talking about, just reading the script given to them.

The HSs series Fujinon HD lens I am using is supposed to be their 'hand picked' cream of the crop lenses off the line.
