So it seems the everyday grind gets to all of us, but every once in a while we get to go out and have some fun making TV. I did just a couple weeks ago and here's the result: Zipline in North Carolina

Also had fun with an everyday downtown parking story:

Did this earlier this year - it's always fun to spend the day at the stadium. Though the edit decks were slipping between 6 and 14 frames an edit...glad we started early!

And a fun one that took a while to track some people down...

The last package I ever shot was a week ago Friday. We spent about an hour and a half shooting a story about a trebuchet. A pumpkin farmer saw one once, designed it himself, and built it to toss pumpkins! Too much fun.

The reporter edited it, so don't go off too bad!

http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=local&id=5656190

I shot three pumpkins being hurled. The first two I shot from behind the trebuchet, and both pumpkins went off to the right. So, being the "smart" shooter I like to think I am, I go down range about 1000 feet, straight out from the trebuchet thinking I'd be good to go.

Well, the farmer hurls the third pumpkin, and it makes a bee-line in my direction. You can here on the audio me saying "Oh, Christ" when I see it headed for me. Once I realize it'll drop before it hits me, I realize the pumpkin is headed right for the wireless microphone I have about 100 feet in front of me (trying for good nat sound, you see). Again, you can here me say "Oh, Christ". It missed the mic by about thirty feet!!!

104imdirect, i loved the breath you let the piece take at the beginning of the nat sequence with the girl hesitating on the flute. that was a great moment.

haven't had anything too interesting. i had a statistic story today that i tried to make interesting after my reporter said it would be a lot of graphics.

this other isn't as light as the other stories posted on this thread so far, but it's the first story i've had in a while that justified any real effort. (beware if you're eating a hamburger while you watch it).

I don't have it uploaded anywhere, but one of the most fun clips I ever did was in Lexington. A local guy was running for a State Rep office. Local character that has run for almost every political office around...Gatewood Galbraith. Those of you familiar with central Kentucky know exactly who I'm talking about.

Anyway, we found out that he's standing on a busy intersection with a sign waving at people. Sounds pretty boring, right? Wrong. Thanks to his personality and popularity with the people, it made for a fantastic piece. Lots of fun!

Great story you and Mike put together. Just one question- Was there any reason that we never actually saw any of the game? Just curious...

wow, Gatewood Galbraith! that's a name I hadn't heard in a while... I think I ran across that guy in Fancy Farm in the mid 90's! anyone else here ever covered that? (fancy farm political picnic)

"Fly Bird, Fly" by Steve Rhodes. Now THAT would've been a fun story to shoot. I can't find it online for some reason, but if you look around, you may find it. It's worth a look. They did a great job with it.

In the meantime, this (http://www.foxbaltimore.com/players/news/cover_story/video.shtml) was a fun story I shot back in July. Scroll down until you see the thumbnail for "Race of Indurance." Yes, I know it's spelled endurance, but it's misspelled on the web site.

Good Question - The NCAA barred all local stations from shooting the game because ESPN had exclusive rights. I figured I wouldn't be stepping on any toes with the big wide of the stadium and the mascot shot.
