HUH's comment the other day about staying at a bed and breakfast and another shoot I did for a story that coincidentally happened to be at a B and B where ABC had shot a couple years ago brought about a question in my mind...

Is it common for B and B's to be used not only for places to stay but for shoots (mainly interviews) too? Seems logical since they usually have plenty of props and look nice.

Generally, network producers attempt to book 1st class accommodations for crews. If you're way out in the country, they may look to B&B's rather than book the crew into a proper hotel that may be an hour or more away, especially if there is an early crew call.I've stayed in a couple of wonderful B&B's on shoots.Beats the local Bates Hotel.

We've done it a few times. It can be a problem if the B&B is open for other guests, because you usually have to take over a common area for a large 2 or 3 cam setup.
It's a great way to avoid the dreaded "Hotel Room Look".

Never stayed in a B & B on the job in over 20 years.

Many B & B's don't have ramps to the door or an elevator. I like to bring a fair bit of stuff inside overnight, especially in winter, and carrying all that up a flight or two of stairs would suck.
