<Ed Sharpe's Desk> I think I will keep my stupid old fashioned cell phone ... Bwaaahhaaaaawa!
In the vein of our wonderment on connectivity here is a debacle that has arisen. this is from here and now on NPR.... they can hack into your cell phone and look though your camera... and listen to you!
....as predicted... I always felt when the devices got enough intelligence internally it would leave loop holes for abuse... I just figured it would take a little longer than it did....
Moral of the story either use a dumbed down device (many times available from the carrier as a refurbished unit or from EBAY if you know EXACTLY what you are looking for.... or have features switched off by your carrier...
.
...but in the meantime don't leave your camera phone on the bathroom counter.

Cell Phone Security Abuse
A Washington state family claims someone has been able to hack into their personal cell phones, and use the phones to spy on them. The family says people are watching them through their cell phone cameras and listening to them through their cell phone microphones. They claim the hacker can even turn on their phones when they're turned off. It sounds like science fiction, but a security expert says it's not only possible, it's fairly easy for a computer savvy teen to hack into your cell phone. Full show rundown
And another amazing cell phone story.... a bit more benign but interesting nevertheless!
