I've downloaded the free Avid program to try it out. Unlike Final Cut Pro, Avid doesn't give you a free video to use to edit. Can I hook up my usb to my camera and capture video with the Avid program? Any help would be great.

Chetan,

Check the specs out, the free software only supports a few codecs and cameras or decks. You may have to digitize it with a different program and import it in. I played with it a little but diddn't like the results. Good Luck!

You need a firewire camera or deck. I think that you can import avi files. Since I got Xpress Pro HD, I had to delete it. You can also import stills and sound. Also, with my deck, I could capture pass through video and audio.....The help files will help somewhat....
Since you are playing it, can you do me a favor and see if Avid will
import a CD track? Xpress Pro HD does that.

Thanks

I don't think that Avid Free can import MP3's. It should import jpeg's,
wave files, and avi files. I may have to reload Avid Free on my laptop, again to see what it can and can't do.
