Fake Drugs What To Use????

I have a Sweeps PKG coming up and I need to video tape some fake drugs. I was going to use baking power or powder sugar for coke. What can I use for pot? What have some of you use in the past that has worked well. Thanks for all the help

Look on your feeds to see if you can find real footage of drugs. I had a story like this, and acutually found a VO of a bunch of people smoking out. Staging vs. real footage. The downfall on the feed video - wasn't the best quality, but it was REAL!

Go to a pet store and pick up a bag of catnip. When I was moving once, I had a bad of catnip sitting on a shelf in my closet to keep the cat from getting to it. The movers saw it and all of a sudden got real quiet, doing the old nugging, head gestures toward the closet. It was pretty funny.

If you need to shoot pills, drop a buck on a bottle of asprin. Get a piece of glass. Turn camera lens up. Put glass on top of lens. Pour pills onto glass, on top of lens. Add light and mic pill pour for greater effect. Pretty cool...

What's the look your going for, Cheech and Chong or a Menace to Society look. If you have a budget, go to a local smoke shop, buy a bong and have a smoker buddy smoke tobacco out of it, make sure you get close ups and black and white it for effect, raise your shutter to get the smoke element, I'd just make sure the bong is see through so you can get a close up of the water.
First off, Coke! is anyone still using that, I'd get some rock candy for meth and get some lawn treamings for the weed just put it in a baggy and tie it with a rubber band. You need a pipe wrap foil around your pen take the pen out and bend the end, got a pipe, now all you need is a needle with apple juice in it and a spoon.

Yeah I watch way to much T.V., if you mention the po po in your story and they display the stuff it's not staging. At least I don't think so, f it.

get creative with your light kit

Oregano lacks the big, fat, juicy buds that quality weed is chocked full of.... It wouldn't fool a true conisuer.

My intent is not to "stage" I have shot my entire story in 16-9 and by shooting some fake drugs with the same camera and ratio the video would be consistent. I am planning on shooting and editing the fake drugs in a manner so the viewer at home knows so. Thanks to all for the help. That's why this site works so well. Teamwork..
