We are getting the Leitch Velocity, sometime this year.

There is another thread where it is talked about, however, how do you like it? Can it even compair to AVID or FCP?

Which one...standard, Q, or HD?

I've used all 3. I'm not a fan of the interface. It's too clumsy for my likings, I can't speed edit on it like I can in Premiere Pro. But the real time abilities are incredible. Q can do about 4 streams of video and 8 streams of graphics in real time without rendering. HD can do 2 streams of uncompressed 10-bit 1080i HD.

I just looked and it is the Velocity NV

I'm guess you mistyped and meant HD? ;)

The HD version is the one of the buggiest POS editing software I've ever used. I absolutely hate it with a passion. So many crashes and glitches. Kinda like the versions of Premiere before Pro.

The Q is nice though. Too bad it was only SD.

I am not sure what kind, I looked at a email and I thought it said NV, I looked online and did not see any like that. I think the whole leitch is crap, but what are you going to do, I will look when at work and see what they are.

Thanks for the info.

I edited on the Q for years and for the most part I liked it. It does have some bugs but you will learn to live with them. It is actually a very powerfull compositing machine. See if you can get digital fusion added to your package, it rocks. Save constantly because it will crash often. It isn't compatible with some media types, unlike FCP which will accept pretty much anything. I do prefer it over premiere pro.

I've used the Q before, and I HATED IT! It has most of the same features that the rest of the non-linears have, they are just harder to use. I pick up NLE's pretty easily, and I could NEVER get comfortable with it. To me Avid's and Final Cut are pretty similar, and the Leitch didn't feel like EITHER.
