So... 32 murdered students and faculty certainly does rate at least a lot of response, which is what happened. Word just out that Tech is already in the process of dealing with well OVER 100 crews for graduation (I've heard 200 batted around). Is this really still a story for an even BIGGER response? While the numbers are not firm, they are from reliable people... as is this info:

"Credentials" is the word of the day. I have heard that out-o-town folks will not start getting on campus until that Friday, local crews Thursday night. I hear there will be a still pool as well as a satellite pool for TV. There will be no cameras allowed on the field. The words I heard were: "We're treating this like a football game.."
Press box will be available for working.

Again, this is early planning stuff and can/will/probably change. Moral of the story is: Get your ducks in order before you come.

Sounds like it is being handled properly. Hopefully a strict handling of this event will prevent the campus and the locals from having to deal with the mess they had to before. The majority of the working media have no problem working within the 'rules' as long as the rules are defined early and well, and they are applied equally to all.

Oh.. and check out "The Cellar". It's below where the Record Exchange stands downtown. Great atmosphere.

PK's is awesome too. Their Hot Wing Pizza is arguably the greatest food item in the known Universe.

How much do you wanna bet that ESPN & the rest of the networks are gonna annoint VaTech as "THE" must-watch team this fall???

Is Frank Beamer automatically "America's Coach" this fall?

And is anyone who roots against them automatically "the bad guy?"

I'm curious to see how ESPN/the nets are gonna handle it this fall.

And your local sports doofus will pick that up and run with it as well.

Guess the plan is finalized today. As of now, we are hearing only the locals will be putting their SAT trucks at Lane Stadium, the rest of you will be at the Skelton Center... about a mile away.

So what makes every local person a doofus. Just curious. When it is our backyard how can you say we are doofuses. You shouldn't defame locals especially when the said locals could be somewhere else but would rather stay and have a good place to raise a family.

The locator on his post says Santa Fe, NM. If you think VT is a local story for New Mexico, you must have failed geography.

Read the posts again. Shoot4U had a quote from LuccaBrazzi that said, "And your local sports doofus will pick that up and run with it as well." Shoot4U is located in Roanoke, so it is his backyard. Maybe it's you who should brush up on geography.

Y'all should just stay home considering our shooters seem to be putting out a much better product than most the other stuff I've seen... yawn.

Y'all are right about that. Whenever I'm fixin' to shoot a network piece, I think to myself...how would they shoot that in Virginia?

This is a nasty thread. Let's not lose focus on the real issue here: Ohio. I can't stand Ohio.

Sorry. I have a coupla pet peeves. One is my some of my fellow network guys who look down on small market guys (most don't)The other is small/medium market guys who have this perverse delusion that all network guys are slackers who don't deserve to be there.A) I busted my a** in small market to get here.B) I AM good. C) I STILL bust my a** on every story.
Oh...and we ALL agree on Ohio ;)

I think you have valid points... but are also a bit hypersensitive; reading way into the post.

I agree. Ohio does in fact suck. He's right. All of it, except for the Jeep plant in Toledo.... and by extension, all the people there who built Jeep CJ's, YJ's, TJ's and JK's. They are the only thing in Ohio that doesn't suck.
