Hello,

My main news client (TV3 in New Zealand) is going widescreen at the end of the month.

I am looking for a small insert camera that is native 16:9 to replace my old DVX100.

This is not my main camera. It is just for those times when small is beautiful... such as in jetboats, working from ski's etc.

The DVX has been great, and I really like the top handle, and the ability to run a radio mic receiver on it easily.

Is there anything good out there at the moment... maybe a Sony V1?!?! I am open to any brand. Just looking for an easy to use, rugged tool with a nice picture.

NAB is just around the corner... maybe there is something new in the pipeline?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

I still think a Sony Z1 would be nice. It has larger chips than the V1, plus a nice audio section. And, it's NTSC/PAL switchable...

I just had my hands on a Sony A1U I rented for a client to give to a subject to shoot their own "behind the scenes" footage, but before I gave it to them I played around with it a little and hooked it up to my 60" HD set with component cables and I have to tell you, I wasn't impressed with the picture, very noisy. So mark that one off of your list as a "B" camera...
