Anyone going to the "Advanced Team Stroytelling Workshop" in Lexington, KY? Or, anyone with any thoughts on what to expect? I've been to Norman. What makes this different? *** NOT looking for an NPPA debate!!! :)

I went in 2003. You will be blown away by the stories you will see.
The staff is truly some of the best in the country. Prepare for very long days and little sleep. The weather in Lexington should be pleasant, but be prepared in case it isn't. If you're flying in, make sure you rent an SUV. Bring a NON-LINEAR editor if you have one or laptop deck to deck. Take all your gear except your full light kit if your flying. Pack maybe a mini fill and make sure your frezzi works.
If your driving bring all your gear, it will give you more flexibility in the field. You will have classes and break out sessions in the morning looking at staff work and as the week goes on critiqueing your work. The afternoon is treated like a day at work. Afternoon assignment meeting, bring your own story ideas. Go out shoot your package, come back, deadline for edit is 11pm.
That's it in a nutshell

Expect long days. When your not in class you will be shooting and editing assignments. It's a very competitive environment, but in a healthy way. Teams definatly push eachother. It helps to have a strong foundation with your reporter before you hit Lexington. It's hard enough to cram in all great info you'll pick up, you don't want to be breaking in a new partner at the same time. It's all about the team, and it will test you.

I'm sure there is some great work here. But how often do the teams get to stay together in real life?

Thanks! Yeah, I was in Norman in '03, but I was solo. Does the Hyatt have an adequate watering hole?
