Just came across this blog. It's a great story and a testament to the camera's abilities.

Camera aside, what a shoot! No words can describe what I think about the men and women who shoot in those kinds of enviroments. From digging out every day, to staying warm, to recharging batteries... what a way to earn a living. They truely love what they do. Maybe I'll not bitch and whine so much next time I get a little wet or ice gets in my xlr between live shots!

Wow! I mean...Wow!

I've often wondered how the recent cold temps would affect the camera operations. Now I know!

I've said it before, I'll say it again...

I love my XDCAM.

Absolutely. And it saves you having to walk halfway across Antartica to dump your P2 footage.

I despise doing business with Sony resellers. But I continue to buy their cameras. This is why.

Why do you despise Sony? Out of all the company's I have dealt with as far as top management goes Sony is by far the most open, and easy to deal and work with.

Forgive me Simon, I amended my remark.I have had no problems with Sony corporation, but have been misled by their agents as far as final prices and inclusion of optional equipment. That is like blaming Chevrolet for their dealers' misdeeds.

Oh what do they know...anyone who's anyone knows that the XL1-H and DVX100A and HDV is the only real format. Anyone who calls himself a true filmmaker shoots on a dvx100a. Nobody shoots on beta anymore and xdcam is just sooooo five minutes ago.

HAHAHA!!! Just kidding, of course :D

Have you ever called Sony in Los Angeles and tried to get someone on the phone to help you with your problem? The first thing they say is, "send it in." What that means is $500 minimum just to look at it, 2+ weeks in the shop with no loaner, and no guarantee it will get fixed. That is why Sony sucks. Zero customer service.

All I know is I love my 350 and I love the XDCAM format. I was on P2 prior and this format is way better. The HD quality is so much better than what you get out of any of the HDV's on the market and it has a real manual lense.
