Brian, are you lookig at the ones that BPCValue has for sale? I have looked at this monitor from a hypothetical standpoint. I have not actually seen one in use. And my conclusion was that the LMD9050 -- even though it's more expensive -- would be the better choice. Overall, however, with money NOT being a barrier, I think the Panasonic 900 (the 8.4") is the best small LCD monitor on the market.

If you are looking at the 9020 for SD work, and if you want an LCD monitor, I think you can get one for a bargain relative to the other higher-end monitors. If you haven't looked at www.bpcvalue.com (they may be in the Torinio Inventory clearance), you should. They have the best prices anywhere on them.

i AM looking at the bpc values offerings. thats what got me thinking.

i would be using it for SD work at this point, but thought it might be nice as a transition into HD - but with no SDI input, i don't think it would be the way to go. the 9050 has SDI in - which, obviously would be great for HD applications - but the 9050 is not offered on the bpc site.

its a good price, but not quite the best choice for me at this point as i already have a great, sony tube monitor. if i didn't have my current monitor and was looking for SD applications, that might be the way to go. i just wondered how they actually looked.....

Actually, they do have the 9050s. They're twice the money. $2400. Look under Monitors/Plasma".

BTW, I just did a shoot with the new panny hdx900?? HD camera. It has downconverters buit into the camera so you can use your old SD monitor in a pinch. Yes it's not the best solution but I just think its some really great thinking on pannys part. Oh and that camera went through my hytrons faster than any Ive used.
