... does it take before you can upload a custom avatar on this board? I thought you just had to be out of the "junior member" hell, but the forum software still won't let me do it.

I've given up. I assumed the same thing, that I had to clear some hurdle, but it seems it's just not going to happen.

I used to have one but one day I wanted to change it and the software wouldn't accept the new one, even after I made sure it fit the criteria. Either it isn't working, or has been disabled.
