Currently i work for a television station in Fargo as a photojournalist. I have been in the business for about two years and am moving to Minneapolis because of my wife's job. I was just wondering if anyone new of a job opportunity there. Anything in the field is great but would prefer to stay in the television news business.

Thanks for all your help...

That's a pretty tough market to break into. But, put together a solid resume tape and be persistant! Who knows what will happen! Best of luck to you!

If they allow freelancing or vac relief, then you could get a foot in the door that way. Either way, best of luck!

See if you could work as the overnight guy. We hire young photogs for the overnights. That way the day guys aren't getting called out, you might get a job if they don't have one, and you can work your way up from there.

If you can get a job in Fargo working in TV then you should have no problem finding one in Minneapolis, there's more of them ! Good Luck.

You remembered supply, but you forgot demand. There are more jobs in Minneapolis, but there are also a LOT more people trying to get them. Who the hell wants to work in Fargo? I suspect the number of applicants per open position is higher in Minneapolis, and I'm pretty sure the average quality of those applicants is much higher.

You may find a job with FSN or a local production house. Contact each station's chief and let him know you'd be willing to fill in for vacation relief. Any way to get your foot in the door!!

The Fargo to Minneapolis move can be done. I did it, but I'm now out of news. Looking at the stations websites, there may be a freelance job at Fox9, KMSP. Or there's a backpack journalist position at KARE. Don't forget to look at community tv stations down here. There are a lot of them that have full-time photographers and photo staffs. Plus, most are considered city employees so you also get government holidays and benefits.
