Hello all,
I was thinking of attending NAB this year and I noticed that it actually goes on for several days. Is there a best "set of days" to go? I cant stay the entire time but want to get the most out of it.

If you're interested in any seminars or special events, let that be your guide.

If you're just interested in the exhibit halls, then Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to be there. Monday is a madhouse, and Thursday you get the idea it's the last day of school and everyone just wants to get on the road.

If you plan your visit well and start early, you can almost see what you need to see in one day. Two is better. Three would be overkill for most people.

Go. You won't be sorry.

Yeah the exhibit halls are my primary goal. and seeing how southwest is having great deals right now i can get there and back for about 125.00. so maybe fly in monday night (double down on eleven). leave thurs afternoon. sound about right?

P.S. does anyone know how much it costs to go? as in do you have to be a member of NAB to go to the exhibits?

It costs nothing for the exhibits, but you need to pre-register at NAB.org

Kevin will probably have his annual B-roll party on Monday night so don't fly in too late.

But if you want to buy toys for yourself, Thursday is the best day.

When I was at NAB a few years ago, went to Portabrace and got stuff for a fraction of the retail price. Neutrik had a box of connectors, "help yourself." I ended up buying a used Pelican case off the floor to ship home as luggage, again for a great price. Especially with the smaller booths with gadgets that make a photog smile, a lot of them don't want to carry stuff back so they'll be happy to bargain on the floor.

Although I didn't try buying an SDX900 or something like that.

I drive in from LA on Sunday night. Hit the show floor Monday morning...go to the b-roll party Monday night and wrap up the show floor on Tuesday and head back. Just be prepared for the Monday morning madhouse rush.
