View Full Version : Cell-Phone Videos Transforming TV News
I'm surprised nobody has posted video of how drunk Brittany Spears was inside of PURE on New Years Eve.

I worry about this every day...what worries me is that "citizen journalists" will one day take the news photographer's role indefinitely... now with cell phone video cameras, everyone might think they're a Scorsese...I hope I am wrong though because I love this job.

I think it is a bit of concern. "Media" is being redefined every day. Cell phone video now appears daily on TV and people, sadly, eat it up!

I didn't read the article, but I don't have to. Cell phone video will ONLY be used in a case like the Michael Richards thing or when a cop does something illegal, when Britteny Spears gets out of a limo w/o any panties, NOT as a regular part of news.
Hell, the article could ahev suggested that security cameras will transform TV news because they played a security camera video from a 7-Eleven robbery. Does that mean security cameras will now be used to shoot stories or reporter stand ups and feature pieces? Of course not, so why the hell would anyone think that a cell phone camera would do it either. Who is the author a follower of MR? C'mom, let's be realistic. Our jobs are safe and more and more stations are switching to XDCam, NOT cell phone cameras.

I think cell phone video is just looked at as another tool. Its basically a HIDDEN camera. I mean, how many places can you think of where you're not allowed to take a video camera. At the same time, if these places don't allow people to carry their cell phones, they'll lose a large portion of their customers. Do you realize that this means you can lose the BUTTON or LIPSTICK cam and just use your cell phone? Not in all instances but the technology puts cameras in places they've never been before.

Probably just a matter of time before we see a stabilized, HD, Razr V3.

Did people freak out this much when camcorders started hitting the consumer market?

Wasn't Britney just really really tired not drunk off her ass?
Thats what our 5pm producer said when that story crossed.
And to think I was going to spend about $17,000 on the new Red camera.

I was there and when she walked by and was about 10 feet from me she looked really hammered.

The new announced iPhone isn't quite HD, but it should put out a pretty good pic for those hidden cam moments...

The courthouses out here don't allow cell-phone cameras in the building. You MUST leave them in your car.

I see what happened there. Her publicist was all like "She wasn't drunk, she's actually a narcoleptic and regularly has to have large men carry her from public places. But seriously, not drunk, she doesn't even drink anymore. Yep. Nothing to see here."
