Howdy all,

Anyone got any tips on finding SatMex 6? I'm looking for some type of picture of the scope footprint. We're stuck on that bird for our election stuff.

I've gotten some info from lyngsat.com but it only goes so far. About 95% of the stuff is supposed to be C-Band Spanish channels along with 3 digital Ku Band slots for feeds. We're booked for one of those, but damned if we can find it.

Our truck is not set up to receive C-Band, but we do have Ku Digital and analog receivers. The kicker is that we haven't been able to find it at the STATION either. Hmmm...

Any ideas?

Has this ALWAYS been "SatMex 6"? Did it used to have a different name, or is it new... never heard of it, but I've been out of the truck for a year...

I'm not a sat guy, but I was curious and looked around a bit. There's a thread on this satellite forum about Satmex 6:

Apparently it's a new bird, and they've moved it around a little before settling on a location. Maybe something in that thread can help you?

check out http://www.upfrontfotos.com/ and look at sat stuff. Click on the satellite and it will show you screen shots of the spectrum as well as any identifiers.

If you keep having problems, try calling the operations center for that satellite at a given time and ask them if there is something on the bird at that time that you can use to identify it.

I've never been on this bird before, but I would start by finding a bird that I know well, for example AMC1, and then "walking" your way over to the bird (4 birds to the west, in this case).

Our sat truck operator is going threw the same thing. Our desk forgot about elections and booked the time late. He told me he can't find it on his end. 4 more days till the vote our coverage could be interesting if we can't find it.

Just out of curiosity, who was your time booked through, and who do you call to access that? Whoever it is, call in early on Tuesday because I'm sure all of the bridges will be busy that night.

Good luck up there.

I had a LORAL phone number directly to a guy running the bridge. It wasn't like the automated answering systems like they use for IA6 or AMC5.
