Hey all, does anyone know of a website that tells who is the number 1,2,3,4, etc in each market? Also what kind of toys perks they have? Kinda looking for a bigger market and do not want to go to the number 3 or 4 if I can help it.
Thanks!

I dont think going to a station that is #3 or #4 matters. Its all about what kind of news that you want to do. I have seen a #3 station (in a 3 station market) do way better news content and treat photogs better then the #1. (but not in all cases. you have to do your research)
I do not know of a website like that...but I work at a station that they say is #3/2 in a four station market and I feel we have the best equitment. We are the only news station in this market that shoot 16x9. That in my eyes is a perk.

Here's an idea.
Find the dominant newspaper in the town you want to live in.
Find out if they have a television or entertainment columnist.
Call or e-mail that person. Many newspapers have that information at the bottom of that person's column, or somewhere else on the paper's website.
You'll find out in an instant who's up and who's down.
Also find out who the owners are of the stations in that particular city. For example, if your dream station is owned by NBC, you're screwed.
Or you'll find that a station has all the bells and whistles (new sat trucks, non-linear editing, etc. etc.) but is a dog in the ratings (like WCBS).
Check on other news sites like tvspy.com for news and gossip about local stations.
There are websites that have the Nielsen numbers, but they're usually part of a station's or network's intranet and not available to the general public.

i believe there are exceptions to that "if your dream station is owned by nbc you're screwed." there are affailites that despite flying the peacock flag that are dominate in their markets.

Affiliates, yes.
Owned stations, no.
