Is it possible to get a bad black balance? I black balanced my camera and afterward the blacks were very crunched. I re-black balanced and things are good now. The stuff I shot before re-blacking look bad... the blacks are way too dark, there is no contrast.

I have had the same problem with my sx camera. I BB and still the black levels were not even there! So I just kept BB until I got it. Our livetrucks have waveforms so I could see when it was good. I still dont know what the problem was.

I can't remember the last time I BB'd. I think I do it twice a year - like changing smoke detector batteries.....
We occasionally get a camera that won't black balance properly because the iris isn't closing all the way. If you're having this trouble with your camera, try manually turning the iris and see if it's still a tiny bit open. Or just put your lens cap on when you black balance, if you have one.
