The fire started in the engine compartment and the photog got out and was able to save his gear before the flames spread to the back of the truck. There is video also but i dont have access to it.

So he shot his truck burning? Did it make air?

A different photog happened to be driving by when he saw the truck burning. He pulled over and shot it.
Having had the "priviledge" of using that particular truck, all I can say is "Burn baby, burn!"

Any idea about the cause.... what kinds of troubles had there been with the truck.... had they been reported to management?
just wondering....

I am willing to bet management didn't keep up with the maintenance on the truck and as old it was, probably had a million miles on it and was already on it's last leg.

My shop had a truck go up in flames about 11 years ago, a rubber gas line had melted due to heat from the engine. The photog was able to get all his gear out, however, we wished he hadn't, he had one of two SVHS cameras at the time... We were just happy he was ok, just goes to show you, nothing lasts forever...

Yeah, should've let THAT camera burn.
What was worse, he didn't shoot any video!
(Good God, that was 11 years ago?)
