Chismoso,

That's not a bad idea, I wish we had thought of it. Maybe if we decide to do an OUTDOOR interview/standup lighting video we can tack that on as a seperate chapter. Thanks for the suggestion.

Having just watched it, it was great. There's one thing however I wished it had touched on...zebra settings. What's good to use here? I've been told set it at 80 and just barely have the face under that. Also, are there any tricks to doing a shoot with just a b/w viewfinder and no video monitor?

This is the best video I have ever seen in my entire life. I purchased a copy for myself, as well as several for my friends. Makes a great stocking stuffer!

Video was very well done. Clear, well thought out, with good illustrations. Felt like I knew pretty much all he said but it's good to hear I had been doing it right the past few years.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good basic knowledge to build on. Especially at that price.

I got mine yesterday and was really impress on what was on there for 28 bucks. It's worth it's price tag, no matter what the experience level you're currently. So far it's one of the cheaper DVD's on the market that has some great content.

Now if only VotexMedia can do one on how to be a better News Manager we would be all set.

Earlier this week I received my copy of "How to Setup, Light, & Shoot Great Looking Interviews." :)
It's the best thing I've ever seen about lighting for interviews. It shows how you can get fantastic footage with practically no expensive equipment. No hassle with all kinds of stuff you don’t need. Just straight to the point and that's it.
I recommend this DVD to everyone who is shooting interviews.

Great job Vortex! :D

PS: Their “Hands on XDCAM HD” DVD is also a must have for Sony PDW-F350/F330 owners.

Yep, agreed. The lighting DVD is excellent, and so is the XDCAM one too. Very well put together.

Just finished watching it. Up until now, the only lighting I've ever done is with my toplight. I've never been taught how to light an interview.

This video was amazing. I feel like I can now light a network style interview confidently.

.....now, if I can just get the boss to buy me the gear I would need....

I've got a DVD on my website on my favorite style of headshot lighting for $23 that has been well received too if anyone is interested. It's strait forward, shot as if you are sitting in a chair watching me work without the fluff and technical babble that has little to do with the art of lighting interviews.

Both DVD's are very good and contain valuable information.

Walter, how close are you to releasing some of the others you had planned? They sounded really comprehensive.

Does anyone know if this offer is still good. I want to order, but I click the order now link, it goes to a error page, I also emailed the sales people there. I could really use this vid.

I have two new disks out. The first called Light and Shade is geared towards the newer lighting enthusiast but has been well received by some friends with much more experience. In it I discuss motivation for lighting, where it comes from and how it translates to lighting a dramatic setting. It's over 3 hours long (two disks) and is $50.00.

The other is Green screen for Idiots and basically walks you through an actual commercial i shot and directed that uses green screen. Green screen is nearly two hours and is $40.

And my head shot video which is now SOP at numerous networks and local stations is a great deal at $24. It shows you the same technique I've used to light over 140 shows for the networks over the years and gives one insight as to how to light softer rather than hard.

And in May to coincide with the NY Expo I'm giving some small class location lighting classes.

That's about all I have going now besides too much work to deal with.

The 30% B-Roll discount had expired, but it's back on again . . . at least until NAB.
