For the frequent flyer's in the group,
So with the recent terrorist red alert and revised banned item list are any of you having any problems traveling with gear?
Yeah I know and liquid or gels are forbidden but just wanted to see if the TSA has any surprises for me on my next trip.

I was thinking about this as well. I have a trip to California at the end of the month, then Italy at the end of September. More concerned about the Italy trip, but has anyone had trouble bringing their camera on the planes yet? I know they just (today I think) allowed laptops on planes again.

seems like small camcorders are more suspicious as detonators, just my guess, I mean, not many hands can easily get a hold of a broadcast camera and a working press pass, unless you want to get really nasty with a knife or a pistol.

God forbid that should happen to anybody.

Uh, working press pass... If I saw some jack ass with a "working press pass" and a camera, I'd be more suspicious, than somebody with just a camera.

I'd call ahead and talk to your airport's local TSA. Please note that not all airports have the same TSA procedures (go figure) so you could run into problems down the the road. My guess is that they are used to people with large camcorders boarding so they might give you a little extra attention but I suspect you'll get on. Depends on who you run into for the check-in.
I was traveling over the weekend on pleasure and the most thorough check was in of all places Bismark ND! Bomb sniffing dogs, checking your ID again within 3 ft of the last person and final carry on check just before boarding. Minneapolis was pain free. Good luck.
P.S. I'm so, so happy I do not have to fly much anymore with gear. What a pain. My hat's off to the guys and gals that do.
