Hi,
I was looking for some storage drawers/bins for my Ford Escape, a step below both in price and size when compared to news crew cabinets. I'd be happy even just adding a drawer for tapes, bricks and other miscellaneous items. Where do I get this stuff?

i built the shelving/racks in my truck myself. Newscrewcabinets look nice, but i decided to tackle it myself. i think those are geared towards local shooters that just don't have as much gear as freelancers.
some 1/2 ply, a pencil, measuring tape, circular saw, some screws, a drill/driver, some patience and creativity and you're done.

Could you put a picture up of your truck - I am interested in what you have.
I just got a new van for my gear... a Mazda5 it is small but has more room than it looks. I am thinking about putting some storage in the Mazda, so I would really like to see what you did.

if someone wants to post the pics directly in this thread, be my guest....i just don't know how to do it.
the truck is packed a LOT tighter now with the constant addition of gear - specifically 2 lowel caselite4's, etc...and there are a few things that weren't in that original pic, like a cart and a couple of smaller cases.
its all 1/2" plywood - screwed together. pretty solid.
It all started with a SUV too. Actually there were no SUV back then, I had the original Jeep Wagoneer before SUV became fashionable.

It's built out of lightweight aluminum tubing and KEE KLAMPS connectors, just like a big erector set. It's all modular so it can be easily rearranged as needs change. It was a labor of love.
Some local shooters have used the same material to build storage in their SUV.

Star, I can email you some pics of my last Expedition and the shelves I built in it. It was all 3/4" MDF, carpeted. I loved both of my Expeditions, but after having a full size, crew cab truck for over a year now, I can tell you it's much better than an SUV. You can get a whole lot more gear in it and still have room for people ;)

run - i'd like to see your pics, too - i'm curious as to why you chose mdf. i know its pretty easy to work with, but i thought it was heavier than ply.
i've still got room for people - for now - as i refuse to give up my back seats.
for now...

Here is my version in Chevrolet Tahoe.

I used wood in my first van, but it was heavy and if it got wet, the humidity inside the van would linger for days, not to mention the smell of wet wood.
So I designed a system with ¼” aluminum. It’s basically two 4’x4’ flat sheets for the shelves and several flat sheets with small 90% bends on each side for the supports. I just bolted them together and covered with carpet. The camera lock box on the right was the same aluminum welded together buy the shop where I bought the rest of the material.

It’s free standing, so I can slide it out whenever I need the space for something else.
I’ve had it for over 5 years and have piled everything you can imagine on it, dollies, jibs, staging, etc., and I still have my back seat.
