I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this on, if not I apologize. I just received an arrisun5 575 watt hmi with the arri 575/1200 watt ballast. The equipment is about 10 years old i think. Anyways when i received the ballast 2 connectors had come loose and the temperature light was coming on. I reconnected those and the temp light went off. Well my current problem is the lamp isn't firing, it wasn't before the other problem either. Is the lamp probably bad and is there a way to check with a meter, i'm going to assume not due to how i understand an HMI works. Also the lamp LED is not coming on the ballast either. Thanks!

I had a joker ignitor circuit board go bad (in the lamp head). It was pretty easy to diagnose by just looking at the charring around the bad part of the board. If you're good with tools take it apart and have a look around for any obvious signs of trouble. Sorry I cant be of more help.

You'll have to change the lamp.
I have several HMI's and I found that its always a good idea to carry a spare lamp in your kit. They cost about $120 or so from Kennedy-Webster and certainly a good investment because most of the time they won't show any signs of a pending failure.
Good luck, you have a very good light.
