View Full Version : Emmy Entries
Well, our station just finished a two day marathon of compiling the entries for this years emmy competition. What a nightmare. We didn't find out about it until the day it was due. I think this is the first time in something like five years since our station has submitted anything for consideration. I think that station entered 15 pieces. Its pretty cool though. The station is paying for all if it and everyone can submit anything they want. I have five entries that include: news photography, sports photography, investigative, general news (24 hours), and special assignment (no time limit). I don't expect us to win anything because the Denver stations pretty much clean house in our region. Those guys in Denver are just that darn good. Our station might squeek one out but it will be close. Anyway, how many other photogs out there have their stuff in???

That's how it is in this region. Dallas and Houston win 90% of them because, A, they're good and, B, our daily news is trash.
San Antonio stations get a bone or two tossed their way each year, but award-winning stories just aren't done consistently here.
Now if they had separate categories for "Most Engaging Car Wreck VO" or "Tackiest Murder Folo", we'd kick Dallas and Houtson's collective asses...

Don't forget "Best Rehash of 2 Year Old Missing Person Case With No New Info". or my personal favorite "Best Rain Video Shot from Back Of Station"

Also don't forget the "Best filter wheel change, walking backwards out the back door at PD"
edit: without banging into the door
At least your station paid for it. Most of the photo staff is not even offered a chance to enter. Just a handful make a tape, and pay their own way. We get a notice when someone wins an award, and I ask when was that contest ? No notice at all, or email. Oh well I have a box of awards at home, and no place to hang them. Good luck and I hope you win.

I hope someone will follow-up here with the winners and where we can see some of the work.
