So, I received the latest e-mail from Zylight and they now have pricing on their website. $950 for the kit. I don't know how good this light really is but a thousand bucks for an on-camera light sounds a little steep to me. When you can get a Frezzi for under 200 and stick some gel in front of it, I think I'll wait until the price comes down.

I bought a regular two pin led bulb for my ultra light 2.

It's light enough at 5am now that all our morning live shots are daylight balanced. So i stowed my regular bulb in an extra mount (in case of indoor shooting) and am using the 6k balanced led bulb.

It's not as bright as a regular 25 watter, i've done tests and the led seems to be about a half-stop weaker than the regular bulb with a dichro fliter. It's enough to fill though in early morning light.

I would love to have a top light with a full range 2k-10k balance dial. But for now, a $14 dollar bulb that draws 2.5 watts and has a life of 50,000 hours? I'll take it!

I bought mine from: http://www.theledlight.com/dcbulbs.html

Touche'

Hey, Weave. Did you see how I concealed that lady's identity today. Shot her through a plastic candy holder in the country store. Looked pretty cool. And I didn't even need a light.

I can appreciate and envy the ability to change the color temp. of your toplight with the flip of a switch...but who puts colored light on a subject? That seems unnecessary to me.

"but who puts colored light on a subject?"
Think outside the box. This light is a great addition as a production lighting tool, especially for product shots and specialty shots, or to use for creating intricate background lighting setups. Throw away your jelly roll because you can dial in any color and more than what you could get with gels. This light is cutting edge very cool technology in LED. I was amazed by it at NAB...and so small but very bright. If I had extra dough oozing out of my pockets, I'd get a few. But currently not a necessity, just a great toy! Also excellent for a backlight.
