What are the chances of bringing my lil Panasonic EZ-30 model camera back to life after getting splashed pretty good while on a white water rafting story? The darn thing turns on but no picture... looks like everything is in working order but the display won't won't work.... Didn't have time to see if it's just the display and not the lens but hey just wondering if it will spring back to life.

It might work.. then again, it might not. Best thing to do if you get stuff soaked is to IMMEDIATELY remove the batter(ies) from the gear. You want to lessen the chance of getting short circuits from the water.

You almost want to keep the gear submerged in the same water (in a bottle or bag or something) until you can clean and dry it thorughly. This camp of thought says since once the water dries off, the minerals and other sorts can react with the copper tracings and metals and start corrosion and other fun stuff.

Fresh water, there's a good chance the gear will work after it's dried off, especially if the device is off and unpowered when dunked. Salt water... you're pretty much SOL.

One serious way to clean something non-mechanical is dunk it in a tub of distilled water. Distilled only - any other water has minerals in it that will collect on the components. Let the device dry for a few days, and make sure it's dry. Can't rush this process, and don't, because you'll end up frying it if something's still wet and it shorts out.
