Although I haven't seen details and exceptions of the new rule, at the annual NFL meeting in Orlando, owners voted that only the broadcasting network and NFL film will be allowed on the sideline during the game. This to protect from overcrowding the sideline and of course for broadcasting rights.

Hey Nino: WAKE UP! :)

You must have seen me while working really hard the NFL meeting.

You guys are way ahead of me.

I look at the bright side of the new ruling, between pre and post-game shows I'll have a 3 hours lunch break and get to watch the game from the press box.

Well, they've gone and done it. The NFL has decided they are not interested in local coverage. Yeah, you can sit in a cave and press play and record for 3 hours, but what's the point? Just show up to shoot post...Oh wait, that too will probably soon be a feed.

While I know there are some out there who are OK with that, it will make it virtually impossible to do a feature story on any player. How often do the networks shoot "ISO's" of anybody? And no, there isn't much "Practice access" either. Most of the teams in the league allow "1st 15 minutes" which is mostly stretching, unless you are FOX, CBS or ESPN...then you have the run of the place.

Yeah, I know the NCAA Tournament and Baseball and a few others don't let you shoot either, but you can usually get a good amount of practice video. Oh wait....not the NFL.

Yes I work in an NFL market, thankfully we rely on College Football to generate most of our coverage during the season. Not everybody does though.

The only way to get back at the No Feature League, would be to not cover them at all, but that won't happen. Nobody will press them on the issue either. The all mighty "NFL" wins. They have better lawyers.
