I'm considering sending a tape their way so I was just trying to get the lowdown on the station and the area. Anyone got any opinions that could help a brotha out?

Norfolk was a great news town, with military stories dominating and solid political reporting. Virginia Beach was a terrific place to live. Ghent, the downtown "arts" area, had some nice places to eat.
But that *was* a long, long time ago...like the late 70s.

I live in Ghent, and returned to WVEC after two years in Baltimore. PM me.

Was wondering if anyone has any information about the station, area, etc. How is it to work there? Live there? the normal questions....Thanks

I left 13 back in 2000. Great place to work and live. I lived two streets over from the beach!
Shooting on SX. Everyone had their own gear and take home trucks. They took news seriously and had fun with it at the same time. Lots of spot news and on the weekends I had time for nat pkgs.
I worked with alot of great people there, including Kevin (the guy who runs b-roll). Lots of reporters that knew that it was a partnership. Like everywhere it had it little problems, but at the time nothing big.
You probably want something a little more up to date, but I have nothing but fond memories of the place.

They really appreciate photogs there. Why when And…er, FocusThis left, they built a shrine in his honor. They also prayed and scarified virgins until he returned.
I’ve never worked there but I’ve fed photogs their way. Everyone that moved on to there seemed happy. However, it would mean living in Virginia.

Worrell Brothers... that takes me back! It was still there when I left. Damn, now I'm hungry!

Isn't Norfolk where B-Roll Online was born?

Yep. Born in Norfolk but hosted in Salisbury, MD.

Well, everything has a downside. Now, living in Michigan, paradise.
