Equipment prices

I know I should never pay retail for equipment, but what size discount should one look for on major equipment buys. Such as a 35,000 dollar list price camera. 5,10,15,20%?

I'd be interested to know -- what camera are you considering.

Also, if you can negotiate a price it's tough to give a percentage. You need to shop the deal and see if you can get a better price. But, then, price isn't everything.

The reason I ask about the camera is because I know where there is a new Sony D600WS for sale for $30K. That, too, is probably negotiable.
