sony dcr-vx2000 camera question

I purchased the sony dcr-vx2000 camera in July 2004 and it will tear some tapes when you rewind them. It seems to catch more on used tapes but if you take the tape out of the camera , pop the tape door, and put it back into the camera it seems to smooth out. Sony said they have never heard of this problem and even though it is under parts warranty they want 216.00 to fix it. Any ideas???Local techs don't want to check the camera in our area.

I recommend you clean the heads. I had a VX-1000 and that took care of pretty much every tape related trouble.

I have a VX-2000...the head cleaning does the trick.
