I'm not a registered user so I'm replying to "Freedom" on the the main board rather than the freelance board.

Regarding half days for ABC:

The NABET contract now allows for daily-hires to be hired for a minimum of 4 hours and can be extended to a full day and beyond. That means you get hired for 4 hours at $37.13 per hour plus the $55.00 payment in leau of benefits. ($10.00 of the payment in lieu of benefits goes to your Flex Plan account.) After 8 hours you get paid $55.69 per hour and qualify for the "Opportunity to Eat"
payment of $40.00.

I understand that the gear rental is the same as for a full day. But remember the gear is not covered by the NABET contract.

To my knowlege the freelance community has pretty much refused to work those half-days unless it's some kind of production meeting that would be over in an hour or so.

The half-days were introduced to the NABET contract about 4 years ago. And I can assure you that the union didn't just give them away. That was when NABET was out for 2 months around Thanksgiving and Christmas 1998 through January 1999. (I think it was 1998 and 1999.)

I personally don't take the half days, but I don't take half days from anyone. It kind of cheapens our value as professionals.
