OK, here's a long shot.
My fiancé desperately wants to move back home to the twin cities. I have 1 year experience in a 110 - 120 market shooting advertisements and station promotions. I feel I have a pretty good talent, but I'm not a pompous young know it all. I learn quick and I love getting criticism, good and bad.
What (if any) would my chances be? Also, if we do have to make the move and I'm not accepted by a TV station, what would you guys suggest I do?

Kid,
I haven't seen your work so I can't really make an informed judgement specifically. In general terms though, I agree, it might be a long shot. The little experience and production background may hamper you. Production shooters are talented, but news is a different animal.
By all means though put together a tape and send it. It at least gets your name out there.
As for moving here without a job lined up you could try freelancing. WCCO takes freelancers. So do the other stations. You may start as an editor with an occasional shooting opertunity, then move on to full time shooting when a position opens.
There are many production companies here as well. You may want to try them for possible jobs too.
You've got the right idea. Keep that girl happy.

There are two openings at WCCO and KMSP. All I believe are fulltime. I know our openings are for additional Special Project/I-team photographer and a GA. I also think we may have another opening as well - I'll check.

Thanks for all of the feedback. For those of you who are at wcco or kmsp, expect a tape and resume from a young'n soon.
