From what I understand WWSB ABC 40 in Sarasota has several positions open. I work at WINK in Naples/Fort Myers and I don't think we have any thing as of now but you never know. And as far as the rest in town - I don't know.

If you do come down to South West Florida - You'll love it. There really is not a bad place to work. Working at WINK, I think WINK is the best but call all the stations and find out what you can - good luck.

The stations are
WINK - CBS Naples/Fort Myers
WBBH - NBC Naples/Fort Myers
WZVN - ABC Naples/Fort Myers (same as WBBH)
WFTX - FOX Naples/Fort Myers
WWSB - ABC Sarasota
SNN - 24-hour cable news Sarasota

Fort Myers? Two words, white-trash. I was just there for a week and I'd rather be jobless than work there.

I would not wish wink on my worst enemies. I wasn't extremely bad when I was there, but now that I've gone to a better place, I realize it was a total slave shop. So many bad things at one place...Getting F!@$%# on OT, a bad "on call" policy, clueless reporters (not all but most), an understaffed assignent desk, an EP who knows everything, an Asst. News Directot who also knows everything...even though he's wrong 90% of the time....should I go on...or have I ranted enough.

Hey unregistered: You donot know what you are talking about. You have the audacity to call the news people white trash, but are not brave enough to post your name...That says a lot to me about your observation of Fort Myers. Some of my best buddies in the business as well as myself started out shooting film for WINK in 1980. One has made a movie and several documentaries, won at lest 25 Emmys, and hangs with the man himself in the winter, Mr. Walter Cronkite. Of course with your pea brain you must be a toddler and have never heard of Mr. Cronkite, Henry Flagler, Thomas Edison,or Harvey Firestone. These are some of the greatest Americans and inventors of the 20th century who resided there at one time or another. I actually would like to meet you mr. unregistered, and find out why you have such an ugly opinion of such a famous and lovely area. We all have opinions, I read yours, now read mine. I agree to disagree with you.

Hey Chance...just to let you know. I'm a different unregistered user than whome. And he didn't say wink was full of white trash people...he said Ft. Myers was full of white trash people. I agree that Ft. Myers is not full of white trash people...I still have a few friends there. All I ask is that you not cast me in the same light as Whose.
Thanks

WWSB is a great place to work. I will say that the ND Kay Miller is probably the best person in TV industry ever. Their pay is really bad, although they are state of the art station. In general, people there are great. You will learn a lot. The other place is SNN, just avoid it. It is a little shop (one room) with nothing to offer and bad people to work with. That is my two cents.

I stand by my original post. For clarification I said the city of Ft. Myers is white trash, not the T.V. stations there. Too, hot, too humid, too stupid.

..PantherFan022...if you are referring to WINK - they are fully staffed all around in the news department...but i'm sure in another month or two someone will leave, Winksters tend to move on to bigger and better because they are pretty good at what they do, so openings come frequently...

WBBH/WZVN is the best place to work in Southwest Florida. We have the best photographers. and pay the highest (as far as i know). We have one opening for a news photographer.
And you can't beat the winters here.
