ALBANY MARKET

Just looking for any info on the Albany market. I noticed the ABC affiliate has 2 openings. Anyone know wht the story is there or any of the other 3 stations?

The Capital Distict is a reasonably decent market. The ABC pays less than the NBC and CBS affiliates. The stations are pretty much clones of each other. Not much enterprise, if press conferences are your thing, this is the place. Most shooters are decent but not really an NPPA presence (each shop may have one or two members but there is no emphasis on it). The area is quite nice. Boston and NYC within 3 hours. The area has something for everyone. Close to NYC, Boston, Montreal. Mountains to ski on during the winter and lots of lakes to frequent during the spring and summer. Fun market to work in. The news covered varies dramatically. Yes, lots of pressers (we're in the capital of the State), but we get our share of spot news as well. Shootings, fires, etc, not to mention the weather goes to extremes.

I'm not sure I'd go with the ABC. The photogs are working without a contract right now and the station is playing hardball about scheduling and number of part timers allowed. Might not be the best shop right now. CBS and NBC the best. The CBS might need someone at the end of the summer.

BTW...great area to live in.

See....now we have suspected terrorists in our market. I told you the news was varied.
