View Full Version : Mic or Mike?
I have always spelled it mic because it is a MICrophone not a MIKErophone.
Why do you spell mike the way you spell mic?

Then it would be pronounced: "Mick" which I find highly offensive.

Must be a slow day in Memphis.
Then again, that is redundant.
Only if you pronounce it MICKrophone.

There is no "k", thus mic is short version of microphone. I'm Warren Watson and I approve this message.

I prefer "Miq" - in the spirit of "Shaq." ;)

Im going to call it a "Phone" from now on, so as not to get confused with someone named Mike or Mick.

I use a "mic" to gather sound.
I know a couple of "Mikes" but they just make funny sounds when they get drunk. :D

I recently watched a Japanese movie called The Most Terrible Time in My Life in which the lead character, who was a detective, was named Maiku Hama.

In SoCal,TX,AZ,NM and other places with high hispanic populations, we refer to them as "Miguels"...hence, "Mig" or "Migs" for short!
