Ok.. so I have only pitched this exact idea (under the name "Battlefield Tourist") a million times over the past three years and NO ONE (not even Rosenblum) was interested... ack...

Pitch it to Google. They like to try and one-up Yahoo every chance they get.

Maybe because you don't wear tight black t-shirts and have Fabio hair?

Just kidding. I know Bill is a member of this site, and worked with Kevin in Iraq - and maybe some others of you have worked with Mr. Sites.

But this idea ain't new - Robert Young Pelton has been doing it for yonks on the Travel Channel (crap handycam, but he's been doing it), and the BBC has had their Holidays in the Danger Zone series, One Day of War etc - mostly all Will Daws produced.

Just a thought NewsMan...it is possible that the reason they went with this guy instead of yours was due to costs. Maybe he's able to offer the material at a lower cost?

Don't get me wrong. Ideas get stolen a lot and that is unfair and frustrating. I was trying to think of another reason, besides straight theft of an idea, for why Yahoo bit on the idea this time.

This guy may have other sources of income for his product apart from this single venture. In that case, he may be able to go lower with his budget numbers.

Then again, maybe it is just silly bad luck in timing. One day an idea is considered bad, the next it becomes viable.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out for Yahoo.

uhhh.... I heard the gossip about salary he was on when he was with the network I shoot for....

and if true, he was earning a good packet ... 6 figures ++

Sites is a fairly well-known reporter with a popular blog and network-level track record.

He's got the contacts - heck, that fallujah wounded prisoner shot dead footage of his was splashed around the world.

No offence to Newsman - but Sites is a known reporter with I'm sure a big agent.

I know, I know... but you cannot believe the times I've heard it's not interesting. I realize Pelton's stuff's been out there, but my stress points were the mingling of culture and people with the environment of war. Not neccesarily the causes, but the human costs.

Latah!
