Got some questions about this particular unit. Can anyone tell me if swapping out the stock antenna's with some larger ones , would help my range? Also My unit came with a stick mic, is it possible to get a lav unit and have it work with my present reciever? If so how would I go about finding the frequency? or is this one of those things where the unit has to be sent out?. I'd appreciate any help I could get on this subject, Thanks.

hi - a couple things about wireless in general:
- don't 'ground-plane' your antennas by running them horizontally. you'll knock down your range by nearly half, usually.

- antenna length generally won't do much. most receivers like this are best with a 'tuned' antenna: one that is cut to a specific length that relates to the wavelength of the operating frequency. i'd like to think tha the azdens provide you with an antenna that is properly tuned for the freq being used. keep it upright and in the clear as much as possible.

i think part of your problem is the fact that the azden transmitters i just found doing a quick search only put out 50mw max - lectros generally put out 100mw - that could be accounting for your 'short range' problems....

oh - you should be able to find the operating frequency written on or in the unit (either the transmitter or receiver) somewhere - usually where the battery loads (not familiar with azden)

then you can go to the azden website to see your other options - and/or b&h. there you can match up your current receiver with a lav pack that will work.
