What are some of the funniest freelance company names you've heard of out there? For instance, what's the goofiest bug you've ever seen on alleged stringer video? I remember seeing one huge bug once that actually had the stringer's web page address in the upper corner...I think the producer who let that air got "slammed" -
Out here in SoCal I've seen:
On Scene Video
First In Video
Focal Point
Independent News Service
Valley News
Street Heat Productions
Inland News Service
Casper
Action News
and my favorite:
Flying Lion... ?

Actually the stringer who had is web address is Eden from the inland impire who is now in Texas raising pigs...Thank God !!
We call "On Scene Video" they way they shoot which is "Home Scene Video"
Valley News is never really in the Valley and also passes himself off as other mexican stations because he doesn't want to let his competion know that he is really going to string it along with representing Azteca....He asked me who I was with one time and i pulled one of his stupid lies and said that I Was With Valley News....I would have to say that if INS was still around they would be blowing the doors of these guys because they can shoot..
Don't forget about another So CAl co called News Real that are no longer...
I don't understand Flyin Lion either but he no longer uses the bug...

Well let's see...I've been shooting for a little over 12 years, so I guess I already could've had a catchy "company" name...but I never took one...I found I don't need one...
What would I have called it? I dunno...
Scan Man News?
Slam Cam News?
Master Stream News?
Night Scope?
Street Sweep?
Shake and Bake?
Fish Net?
Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh
I don't see myself in my one vehicle with my radios and camera constituting a "company" in that sense... It's not required on tax returns either...It's easier to just keep it simple (and humble)

Once upon a time ...
The whole idea behind it was to let the stations that didn't take your video know what they could have been airing, instead of what they got.
Whether that be good or bad? - Who Cares?
This lasted for about 1 yr, and the flag was dropped. Not a corporate decision, I mean in someone's backyard.
Had one Chief Photog say he didn't like it, because it made the station look like they got they tape from somebody else.
I said, "You did!" :)

Yep...I remember the days of the itty bitty Blue Dot, or the itty bitty "@" in the upper right hand corner to identify footage...not nearly obtrusive as complete sentences ;)

There's Mad Monkey Productions here in Columbia. Say what you will about their name, but you'll hardly find a better company in the Southeast.

Ever heard of Screaming Flea Productions? They're not a stringer company, they do complete shows for History Ch, HGTV, etc. Great people to work for, just a funny name.

Screaming Flea sounds like it could almost go hand in hand with Flying Lion...
How about Screaming Lion and Flying Flea?

Warren I mean what I said...If you have seen there video you will see that it looks like a home video.. I wont go into details as I would hate to give them any tips... Why do they make sales ???? Because there is nobody else out there and when there are other stringers out there they get beat !!!!I was shooting a story and just as the injured cop left in the ambulance they showed up and I asked them if they where here to get the scraps ??? He said yah just like me !!! I never saw there home footage the next day !!!! Home Scene Video / On Scene Video as already sold out Long Beach Fire...Anything for a buck and now they wonder why the fire department doesn't like them or give them access.....I wonder if it was really worth $150.00 ????
